Mourners gather to say last goodbye to Skye

MOURNERS said a final farewell to Skye Hall yesterday at the funeral for the five-year-old.

A service was held last night at St Michael and All Angels’ Church, in Park Road, Abingdon, near the Hall family home.

Skye battled a brain tumour for a year and died last week from radio-chemo neurotoxicity — where the treatment for the cancer kills healthy cells.

His mum Sally said: “I hope the service itself was inspirational, just like Skye.”

After a front-page appeal in the Oxford Mail dozens of people got in touch to help the youngster’s dying wishes come true.

Now, his parents and his younger brother Jesse, two, have set up the Blue Skye Thinking charity in his memory.

It aims to raise money for alternative treatments for child cancer with the Loom to the Moon appeal to try to make the world’s longest loom band, where elastic bands are twisted together to form a chain.

The appeal has more than 12,800 ‘likes’ on Facebook, and the family have already received more than 9.5km of loom bands — more than the height of Mount Everest.
