Traffic: Gridlock in Kennington

MOTORISTS going through Kennington have been delayed with reports of gridlock through the village.

Drivers have said it has been caused by bin collection vehicles and the buses have been hit by delays.

One motorist said: "It was chaos today and, guess what, there was a Vale of White Horse waste collection trundling its way down through the main road through Kennington between 7am and 8am.

"The route beyond the waste van into Oxford is clear. Behind it the traffic is stacking back I don't know how far into Radley. People park on that road through Kennington so it's extremely difficult to get past the waste van hence the long tailbacks."

Oxford Bus Company has warned of delays of up to an hour on their Abingdon route services X3/35/X13s.
