Why offer them a driver road safety course.just increase the fine to £200 and issue points. Im sure less people would use their mobile as they are driving if its gonna hurt their pockets

Agreed, Should not be an option. How about £100 AND the course. I am always seeing people on their mobiles whilst driving so clearly the penalties and enforcement at this moment is below par.

People know the rules but opt to flaunt them. They respect neither the Law nor others who obey it.

It is time the penalties were dramatically increased to focus the attention of arrogant drivers.

Treat it like they have no insurance, and seize the vehicle. At the end of the day, if you are involved in an accident and it can be proved that you were using you phone, your insurance company will not cover any liability. Either that, or make people really think about it with a larger fine and instant 6 month ban!

£500 plus six points and compulsory attendance on the Driving Safety Course with the offender paying the course fee. If second offence - 12 month ban and £1,000 fine with 9 points added to licence when driving ban is lifted. And yes I am a car driver and have been for over 40 years.
