A MAN accused of helping Connor Tremble's killer said he was "shocked and scared" when he found out the teenager had been stabbed.

Grant Clemens, of Stockwells, Moreton-in-Marsh, Gloucestershire, gave evidence for the first time this morning in Oxford Crown Court.

The 24-year-old denies perverting the course of justice by providing Will Blencowe with clothes and helping him get transport on February 13 this year.

Today he admitted giving his friend a jacket and trainers, but said he had no idea what Blencowe had done at Fairacres Road, Oxford, earlier in the day.

Blencowe, of Oxford Road, Banbury, admits stabbing 17-year-old Connor but denies murder, claiming he was acting in self defence and was suffering from a mental condition.

Asked when he found out about what had happened, Clemens said it was not until the afternoon of February 14, when it was "all over Facebook."

On the night after the stabbing, Blencowe and Bradley Jones, who also denies perverting the course of justice, arrived at Clemens' house at around 9am.

He said: "It was either Bradley or Will, they asked if I had a spare pair of trainers.

"They said Will had stepped in a puddle and got wet feet, I said I had a spare pair."

He added that he gave Blencowe a jacket because he looked cold and was shivering.

Asked how he felt when he found out what happened to Connor he said: "I was shocked really, I was scared.

"I thought I might get dragged into it because I had him in my house and gave him a jacket and trainers."

The trial continues.
