Family appeal for help with Skye’s swims

THE parents of Skye Hall, a five-year-old battling a terminal brain tumour, are asking for Oxfordshire’s gardeners to come to their aid to help the youngster fulfil his dying wish.

One of the last things on Skye’s bucket list is to swim in a hydrotherapy pool, and the family are hoping to have one installed in their Abingdon home.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation is putting Skye at the top of its priority list because he only has weeks to live.

The charity is planning to install a hot tub in the family’s garden as soon as possible, rather than taking the standard six weeks.

But an area needs to be cleared for the pool to be installed.

His mum Sally, 36, said: “Skye doesn’t really go anywhere these days, he’s really not well at all.

“It takes about 20 minutes to get all his tubes and things ready for swimming, and Skye hates the faff of doing it in public.

“He loves being in the water, swimming is his favourite thing. He keeps saying ‘When I get better I’ll do swimming lessons again.’”

Mrs Hall, also mum to two-year-old Jesse, said: “We just need someone to help clear a few bushes. It would take a lot of people no time at all, but it would take us forever.”

The second thing on Skye’s list – pulling a prank involving a pretend ice cream dispenser the centre of Abingdon – is set to take place on Friday.
