ANCIENT history came to life for these young visitors at the Ashmolean Museum’s Discovering Tutankhamun exhibition.
The museum ran a ‘Marvellous Mummy Making’ session for children alongside its new Egyptian history display, which looks at the king Tutankhamun.
Sisters Hanna, eight, and Clara, nine, Mulcahy drew their own mummies at the museum’s learning centre, after learning about how Egyptians prepared and revered their dead.
Clara said: “The best bit was when we got to look at the real mummy in the exhibition.”
The sisters are visiting Oxford from Germany with their father Alex.
Mr Mulchay, a teacher, said: “We’re looking after my cousin’s house in Temple Cowley, and we went to see what was on at the Ashmolean.
“It was really great for the girls. They learned all about embalming and mummification.”
Discovering Tutankhamun runs until November 2. Tickets cost £9, and under-12s go free. Visit website or call 01865 305305.
