Rather than getting hot and bothered, I hope this suggestion may help improve the gridlock each day and night. Certainly I have phoned the traffic line and county council deputy leader Rodney Rose, but maybe contacting the Mail may help?

Please can we have a review up by the Hinksey Hill roundabout with regards to traffic light timings or something during the contraflow works.

The past three nights running I have found that everything is grinding to a halt at this roundabout as drivers coming up the northbound slip road of the A34 are ignoring the rules of a roundabout and going when not clear to do so. They are also jumping the red lights. This means no traffic can get past and up Hinksey/Boars Hill or off the roundabout onto the A34 north. It, in turn, is causing the contraflow to back up.

I have also encountered up to seven changes of traffic lights before there is a space to move off the roundabout. This problem additionally is causing problems with those joining the roundabout in the morning from Boars Hill as they too are prevented by all the northbound A34 exit traffic and the insular and territorial nature of the drivers.

There need to be yellow boxes implemented and/or with traffic camera enforcement or traffic policemen.

Alternatively could they consider changing the light timings so when it goes red on joining the roundabout from the A34 north slip road there is a delay in the lights going green for the traffic to the left of this slip road. Then have that circular with the lights so that there is more time for each entrance and exit to get cleared?

Clearly something needs doing with the traffic at this section, especially around the 7.30am to 9.30am and 4.30pm to 6.30pm time lines.

I appreciate this is a tough time with the road works but we all need to try and work out how best to get through this trying time. God knows what it will be like if this continues unaddressed and schools are back.
