OXFORD City Council’s former leader Alex Hollingsworth is making another attempt to become a councillor again.

Mr Hollingsworth is the Labour candidate in the Carfax by-election which will be held on September 4.

He stood for election in the same ward in the May elections but was narrowly beaten by Green candidate Ruthi Brandt.

Mr Hollingsworth was leader of the city council between 2002 and 2006.

With the students still away on polling day, it will be interesting to see how many local residents of Carfax Ward actually vote Green. They got about 480 in May i will be surprised if it more than 100 this time. Labour has to be a shoe in this time. I know where the smart money will be going.
