Sir – It is reported that the campaign to save Temple Cowley Pools, which is putting together a bid to take over the complex, is encountering difficulties in obtaining the necessary information from Oxford City Council.

I believe this information relates inter alia to statistics about public use of the complex and that the council is claiming it is too ‘commercially sensitive’ to be released to said public.

I have always been under the impression that local authorities are not commercial entities; but rather, that they exist purely in order to serve their employers, the local population. Perhaps this news has not yet reached Oxford City Council.
