POLICE have this morning said protests by a group calling itself the National Front and anti-facism demonstrators are likely to be peaceful but they are taking precautions.

The force has been told of both demonstrations by the National Front and Oxford Unite Against Fascism would be in Oxford city centre.

Supt Christian Bunt, LPA commander for Oxford, said: "We have nothing to suggest these will be anything other than peaceful demonstrations.

"However I am aware that Oxford city is very busy on Saturdays in July and these are likely to cause some disruption.

"We have got a police operation in place today that is proportionate to deal with any demonstrations and any other issues we may have today."

You think people who are anti Fascist must be Communists. An interesting view.

I noticed the biggest banner from the "fascists" was outside the ex Old Gatehouse pub which was unfurled next to a rather large Welsh flag and read. Nationalists against child groomers. I wonder if that will make the papers? probably not. The papers were probably hoping for something along the line of ??? go home.

What you have failed to notice is that the Fascists are quite particular about the type of child groomer that they are protesting against.

With the NF being a Fascist and Racist grouping the targets of their ire are the 'wrong' colour, race and religion. Funny that.

Read any of their stuff and you will notice that all the White male Christian child groomers recently in the press don't even show up on their radar.

As for your comment, it's either naieve in the extreme or a pretty poor attempt at being an apologist.

Extreme Nationalists going in the EURO bar brought a wry smile to my face. A bit like when England fans were in Brussels singing 'No surrender to the IRA' while drinking in an Irish pub. Nationalists don't get irony apparently.

I doubt that many people find the ideas of fascism-whatever they may currently be, the concept being rather dated-particularly attractive but whilst the rest of us are perfectly content to just carry on, it's the communists with their equally dated dogmas and striking similarity to those they disparage, who like to come out to play. After all no one votes for either so it's the only fun they get,

I didn't know that the National Front existed anymore, and for a protest at Bonn Square, one of our twinned cities in Germany? What irony.
