SCHOOL’s out for the next generation of rock superstars spending their summer break jamming at the Muzo Akademy School of Rock summer camp.
The Witney group, which suffered a power cut when our photographer arrived at its Market Square base, is running a camp until August 29 giving six to 16 year-olds the chance to make music together and develop their confidence and creativity.
Fifteen-year-old Euan Moulder-Hurdsfield, from Carterton is volunteering with younger children at the camp. He said: “The camp is amazing, you can walk into a room with five people who you’ve never met before and the next think you know you’ll be best friends and playing in a band together.
“I have been playing guitar about six months and the drums for three years. I also sing and I’m going to start learning bass soon. It’s great to be able to introduce kids as young as six to music.”
Musical tutor Aldie Chalmers said: “The kids are having a great time and playing music but as tutors we are working hard with them to develop other skills like confidence and creativity – skills you need to play music that are useful in other parts of life too.”
Places are still available at the camp.
