WHEN police were called to reports of a man holding a gun in North Oxford yesterday, they attended immediately.

But officers who arrived at the Cutteslowe estate found a teenager carrying an air gun in Hawksmoor Road.

A worried resident alerted police after spotting that the boy at 2pm.

Most residents in the area said they had not seen anything but one man in Jackson Road said he heard police yell “get down” at the teenager.

Thames Valley Police spokeswoman Rhianne Pope said by 2.10pm officers had established that a teenager had been carry a BB gun.

He was arrested at the scene.
