Sir – Perhaps some readers are still in touch with people (or their families) who were evacuated to Oxford during the Second World War.

However, there may be some who would like to contact them or find out whether they are still around, but do not know how.

They may not know about the existence of the Evacuees Reunion Association. It is an international organisation, a registered charity and they have an excellent magazine, called The Evacuee, in which one can appeal for news of former evacuee friends.

The editor of the magazine is James Roffey and his office is The Mill Business Centre, Gringley on the Hill, Nottinghamshire DN10 4RA. Telephone 01777 816166 and email: era@evacuees.org.uk

As a former evacuee, I have been a member of this organisation for many years and can recommend it to those who gave a home to evacuees, were friends of evacuees or were evacuees themselves.
