WE are organising a convoy from MINI Plant Oxford to the BMC and Leyland show at the Motor Heritage Centre, Gaydon, on Sunday, July 6.

The convoy is free of charge to join and we are taking the back roads to Gaydon, via Kidlington, Deddington and Banbury.

MINI Plant Oxford has very kindly offered to open its Centenary Exhibition for those on the convoy to look round before we leave.

Oxford Mail:

Some 45 cars built at the Cowley plant between 1953 to 2003 left in convoy to go to Longbridge with Andrew Smith MP waving them off

Although the show is called the BMC and Leyland Show, it also includes Austin Rover Group, Rover Group and MINI, and any car which has been built at either Cowley or Longbridge is very welcome.

Although it is free to come on the convoy, we do ask people to let us know in advance so that we can manage numbers.

There is a charge to get into the show at Gaydon, however, those who join us on the convoy will get a reduction on the price of their ticket.

This year we are celebrating 50 years of the 1800 (fondly known as the Landcrab) and 30 years of the Montego. As part of the Montego celebrations, the Motor Heritage Centre will be having out on display the last Montego which was signed by the Cowley workforce who built it, along with the earliest known surviving Montego which was built before Montego’s launch.

Oxford Mail:

Tanya Field

Did you sign the last Montego? If you did, it would be lovely to hear from you and even better to see you at the show.

If you would like to come to the show but do not have a Cowley or Longbridge built car, you are very welcome to come along as a visitor.
