Six candidates will fight for a seat on the city council at a Cowley ward by-election next month.

The poll has been triggered by the resignation of Labour city councillor Helen O’Hara for personal reasons.

Those contesting the seat are David Henwood (Lab), Hazel Dawe (Green), Katharine Harborne (Con), Ian McDonald (UKIP), Artwell (Ind) and Prakash Sharma (Lib Dem).

All but the Lib Dem candidate stood unsuccessfully in the May 22 elections.

Voters will go to the polls on Thursday, July 17.

"Promotional videos" or not, the Green, Lib Dem and Tory candidates support the pool too, but in a much less self centred way. Artwell speaks as if he is the only one who knows how to oppose Labour Council's unjust decision and save the pool.

The ballot figures show that in the May local election if Artwell had not been selfish and had campaigned for the Greens instead, Labour would have most probably been ousted in Cowley! Not only he "failed" but he also damaged the chances of others to beat Labour, and he is making the same mistake again out of selfishness.

He hasn't lived in Cowley for more than just a few years but claims to represent its residents! He never uses the Cowley pool or gym but claims to genuinely want to save it! He attends the save the pool meetings but…Does he genuinely want to serve the community or is he just using the pool issue to make a political career?
