I AM writing concerning the article (June 18) about safety fears voiced over the ‘castle’ roundabout.
What a lot of negative input, to begin with. Thank goodness for Ros Lester’s much more positive thoughts and comments.
The parks staff obviously put a tremendous effort into the work they do to make Wallingford such an attractive old town, and should be thoroughly commended.
The ‘offending castle’ is not so, but a rather nice feature which someone has taken the trouble to make at his own expense. We travel through St Leonard’s Square on a regular basis, and can state categorically that the ‘castle’ feature cannot be accused of being a traffic hazard.
In point of fact, traffic occasionally parked illegally outside the hairdressers or Village Fabrics is more of a hazard.
So please leave the castle alone. We like it.
