I WOULD like to remind the parishioners of Old Marston that the postponed Parish Council election is now to be held Thursday, June 26, at Mortimer Hall, Old Marston.
This had to be re-arranged because, sadly, one of the candidates, Roy Jones, a stalwart of the local community, died on May 5, 2014.
I am standing for the first time and one of the 13 candidates looking to fill 12 places. One of our parishioners contacted each of us asking for more information before he can decide whom to vote for.
This is the wrong way round – we should have canvassed him.
The candidates are: Nils Bartlett, John Batey, Michael Cadd, Peter Cox, Tony Greenfield, Patricia Hall, Duncan Hatfield, Charlie Haynes, Barry Lewis, Michael O’Keefe, Peter Sarac, Angie Tiwari and Peter Williams. The Old Marston Parish Council has a very good website www.oldmarston-pc.gov.uk which should help in any deliberations.
