GOLFERS spent 16 hours on four Oxfordshire greens to raise funds for research into muscle-wasting conditions.
They took on 72 holes of golf at four different courses across Oxfordshire to raise awareness for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.
Chris McKechnie, Jono Drew, Paul Kelly and Alex Vaughan, dubbed The Expendaballs, avoided the thunderstorms on Friday and played golf from 4am until 10pm, raising more than £2,000 for the charity.
Mr Vaughan, the team captain and an IT administrator, said: “It was a lot harder than I thought it would be. Paul Kelly had a couple of birdies on the day and he managed to birdy the 61st hole.”
“When I finished, I was exhausted. I won’t be playing golf for a while,” he joked.
The players took on the Chipping Norton golf course, Carswell, Burford and Witney Lakes.
Chris McKechnie is father to Adam and Jay, who both have Becker muscular dystrophy, a muscle-wasting condition.
He completed Oxford’s annual Town and Gown race last year and enlisted 20 friends and family to run the race with him that May.
Mr McKechnie, 42, from Launton, admitted prior to signing up for the race, that his only regular form of exercise was golf.
