Sir – I was appalled to read (Report, May 29) of the golden handshake of £29,000 given to the Oxfam former head of counter-fraud when he resigned in November 2011.
He has since been jailed for defrauding Oxfam of £64,000. An Oxfam spokesman said his crime was ‘unacceptable’.
I find it completely unacceptable that Oxfam should pay workers any form of golden handshake. We would not have known of this particular case if his conviction had not been reported in The Oxford Times.
Oxfam needs to be completely open about what it chooses to do with donations and not waste money on golden handshakes. I am cancelling my monthly direct debit to Oxfam.
