A CONTROLLED explosion has taken place after a suspected Second World War live mortar shell was found in Kidlington.
It is understood the police were alerted this afternoon after a woman discovered the shell in her back garden.
The police and bomb disposal team from RAF Northolt arrived at the scene shortly before 3pm
Police have said a controlled explosion took place at a location nearby and the shell has been safely disposed of.
