SHAMBOLIC is the only way to describe the departure of Beano (James Constable) to Eastleigh.
How is it that a non-league team can offer him better terms than Oxford?
I fully appreciate he wasn’t the most prolific of scorers, however he scored many a goal for Oxford and was only one goal short of the club record, and he would work his socks off for the team.
It’s a great shame that, even if they didn’t want to keep him long-term, they didn’t give him a contract that would have kept him at the club and then transfer listed him with the chance of cashing in and making some money.
Oxford are on the decline under the present ownership who seem to be placing all their faith in cheap young players. I really do hope I’m wrong, but Oxford are heading for the depths and a possible relegation fight.
