MORE than 250 people wished charity cyclists Mark Crick and Neil Barson well as they prepare to embark on a 466-mile ride the length of Ireland.
The Fox Inn on Hyde Road, Denchworth, near Wantage, hosted the day, which saw live music and a hog roast on offer to raise money for their mammoth trip.
Mr Crick, 44, said: “It was suberb.
“Everyone was so generous — the musicians and pub gave us their time for free, and we made £2,000 from the day.”
The duo are leaving in June to Friday, June 6 to raise money for the Sobell House Hospice in Oxford.
Maintanence engineer Mr Crick said: “My mum, Ann, was helped by Sobell House before she passed away with cancer 19 years ago. Ever since I’ve done big fundraising events for them.”
Mr Crick, from Denchworth, will be cycling with Mr Barson, 45, from Mizen Head in County Cork to Malin. He added: “Originally we had a target of £5,000, but we’ve already raised that much, so we’ve increased it to £7,000.”
