A STONEMASONRY firm has been found guilty of corporate manslaughter today at Oxford Crown Court.
Bristol and Bath-based Cavendish Masonry now faces a large financial penalty after being convicted of a gross breach of its duty of care to employee David Evans, who died on February 9, 2010.
The 23-year-old stonemason's mate was killed by a two-tonne block of limestone which toppled over after being lowered into place by a crane.
It was to form part of a "rustic wall" being built at the Well Barn Estate in Moulsford, which is owned by Pizza Express founder Hugh Osmond.
The company will now be sentenced at the crown court on a date yet to be fixed.
