Thames Valley Police ask us to be public spirited and crime minded.
I wished to give some confidential information and dialled 101. I asked to be connected to the department in St Aldate’s, but after four minutes I was connected to Milton Keynes police station.
The man I spoke to said he would transfer me to Oxford. After another long wait I rang off and tried again, this time the central police station, then they wanted to know who I was and why I wished to speak to that particular department.
I told the woman it was confidential and with ill grace I was connected.
The whole matter took 10 minutes and all the time I was paying for the call.
Maybe it would be better if we could reverse the charges.
