IT can’t have been much fun being a friar back in the 1530s when Henry VIII insisted on the Dissolution of the Monasteries.
But the Greyfriars are a hardy bunch and now, five centuries after being forced to flee, they are coming back to Cowley.
It is entirely fitting that the Greyfriars should find their new home thanks to the All Saints Sisters of the Poor, and we look forward to the Greyfriars continuing the good works for the poor and homeless they no doubt started more than 500 years ago.
