Sir – I am writing to thank the local residents and members of your wider readership who have already contributed to the public consultation on the University of Oxford’s proposed development at the Old Road/Park Hospital campus.

The university was granted outline planning permission last July and we are now considering the first phase of development, specifically the Big Data Institute — which will develop approaches for generating, storing and analysing large datasets in medical science for a better understanding of human disease and its treatment — and the Amenities Building, which will house a number of facilities serving the Old Road Campus as a whole.

We are now ready to share more detailed designs for the Big Data Institute building, in particular its external appearance and associated landscaping areas and information about the proposed Amenities Building, along with the feedback that we have had so far and the changes we propose as a result.

Therefore, we have arranged a further public consultation event, which people can attend on Friday, May 9, 4-7pm, and Saturday, May 10, 10am-1pm, at the Old Road Campus Research Building (the Green Building), off Roosevelt Drive, Headington. Several members of the university team, including our consultants, will be attending to provide more information and answer any queries.

We look forward to welcoming all interested parties to take part.
