I DO not know Chris Robbins personally, but he appears to care little for future generations and even less for the young people of Kidlington. Simply put, Mr Robbins, is saying ‘not in my back yard’ – a naïve view regarding any possible new housing.

Our children deserve to live in affordable housing and in a location of their choosing. Exactly who is against development and where will this go if Kidlington is off limits?

I also question the statement that “the green belt land adjoining The Moors acts as a buffer”: a buffer to what, Mr Robbins? The Moors is one of Kidlington’s most northerly roads and there is nothing but countryside until you reach the metropolis of Bletchingdon. Surely he means land south of Kidlington, between us and Oxford. The message I am getting from you is clear: my children can buy a house anywhere they like, but not in Kidlington.

What are the alternatives for the young people who want to live and work in this area? From your perspective, they are bleak to say the least. It’s inevitable that green belt land will go for housing. It’s just a matter of time. You cannot halt progress, Mr Robbins, and you have even less chance of stopping the population from expanding. Taking these last two facts into consideration, we all need to make sacrifices, and new houses have to be built. We just have to accept that a proportion of these will have to be in and around our village.
