Sir – Oxford City Council has been scourged and crucified for apparently not realising that the Cowley Road Passion Play is a religious event (Report, April 17). This is unfair.
Many of my non-Christian friends, and a few of my Christian ones haven’t heard of Passion Plays. I personally don’t know much about Eid, Hanukkah or Diwali.
Staff in the events planning department of Oxford City Council may need extra training so that they understand the various religious applications they may receive, but treating hardworking council staff with unkindness is against the Easter spirit, and I know is against the sentiments of the Cowley Road Passion Play organisers.
