A selection of pictures showing how Upton changed through the years.

In the first picture, circuit steward Frank Morse opened the new Methodist Church in 1957. About 150 people attended the ceremony, including local church leaders. A dedication service was conducted by the Rev Albert Hearn. The church cost £7,250 to build.

Children were quick to try out new rides after the village playground opened in 1986. Five-year-old twins Anne-Marie and Hannah Smith are shown in the second picture with Sheila Parker and Jessie West, who helped pay for the play area.

In the third picture, it was a sad day in 1995 when the village shop closed. The tills stopped ringing when Brian Wells, his wife Beryl, left, and assistant Mary Greenough closed the doors and emptied the shelves for the last time.
