Sir – Thanks to a recent ‘freedom of observation’ enquiry, there is now irrefutable evidence that the ‘fat cats’ at Oxford City Council are spending too much time licking the cream and not enough chasing the long-tailed rodents, that seem to be taking over the cycle racks by St Mary Magdalen church.
As belts continue to be tightened, may I suggest a cut in catering at the town hall and a bit more ‘paws on’ action, to avoid the inevitable report, that is sure to conclude that our councillors are ‘excellent value for money in the current economic environment’, but unfortunately, preoccupied by chasing their own tails?
Chris Smith, Oxford
