Sir – Charles Bidwell is agitated over the proposed ‘Mansion Tax’ and asks how North Oxford residents are going to pay it (Letters, April 3).
By moving house, Charles, as many council tenants have been forced to do — some have even been obliged to move to other cities, and without collecting a pot of gold from a house sale in the process.
The crueller this Government becomes, the less sympathy people will have with house owners who can go crying all the way to the bank if they sell up.
