MOTHER’S Day is the day we say thank you to our mums for everything they do. From the discussions we’ve had with mums in Oxford, we know that now more than ever, mums need a break.
And as working mums ourselves, we know that one of the biggest problems facing parents today is the rising cost of childcare.
David Cameron and Nick Clegg haven’t done nearly enough to help parents with this ever increasing bill.
However, as Labour candidates in forthcoming elections, we are both really pleased that Labour has already committed to go much further than just tax free childcare – we’ll extend free childcare for working families with three- and four-year-olds by an extra 10 hours, to 25 hours a week, 38 weeks a year.
We understand the pressures which mums face at the moment. That’s why we will invest in childcare help, and make childcare work for working mums.
