THE so-called Green Party is not what it used to be...

A little bird tells us that a political news-sheet is about to drop through the doors of unsuspecting voters in and around Oxford.

Time was when the Greenies used to worry about cutting down trees. No longer, it seems, when the party has printed tens of thousands of these eight-page newspapers. Green Party candidates used to make a point of campaigning by bicycle. However, now their advice is to use a vehicle to collect the bulky political papers and that delivery by bike is “impractical”.

Our little bird doesn’t tell us the content of the party’s propaganda. However, we can expect the usual diatribe against Labour and why splitting the anti-Tory vote is somehow a good thing.

I’m all for political debate in the run-up to the European and council elections on May 22 but whatever happened to the good old Green Party of principle?
