I READ with interest that Jim Smith seems to think that they will be able to accommodate foreign students through the holiday months at the Wavy Gate site in Chapel Street without any objections from residents.
I, with many others, will object strongly to this. We already have terrible problems every summer with young foreign students in South Park, not only noise throughout the night but their discarded rubbish and broken bottles. This park is just round the corner from the flats. As the residents in East Avenue say they only get sleep in the vacations, the same goes for residents in Morrell Avenue.
We are already saturated by foreign students in East Oxford, especially the hundreds who stay at the Brookes complex – we don’t need any more.
If anyone would like to get in touch with me, we can send a petition to the council. Enough is enough.
