Common sense is at last trying to prevail – I refer to the proposal to incorporate Winterbrook into Wallingford.
Many years ago, I worked for the GPO. As a postie I sometimes did the Reading Road/Winterbrook walk and I can’t ever remember seeing any mail addressed to Winterbrook, Cholsey. It always was Winterbrook, Wallingford.
Just recently I heard some interviews on Radio Oxford given by residents of Winterbrook. They all said they regard themselves as being in Wallingford (which, of course, they are). One lady said: “When I get the car out, I go to Wallingford or Didcot.”
I do hope the incorporation is agreed by the planning people – you know it makes sense.
