Here is a letter devoid of local politics: I write simply to say a really big thank you to the Wantage Rotary Club.

Last Monday the club visited Maude House in Wantage where, for two hours, they regaled the residents and their guests with wonderful entertainment.

Raconteurs had us helpless with laughter with stories – risqué and otherwise. We were treated to a short but very clever film show. There was plenty of music, led by a talented violinist – or was he a fiddler? – supported by a keyboard player and two guitarists.

Refreshments were served which included drinks donated by Sainsbury’s.

Poetry and singing followed leading to the high point of the evening.

This was a sublime dramatisation of Sleeping Beauty in which the cast of seven were all stars. Wantage Rotary club – you did more good in two hours than the JR could do in a year. Thank you so much.
