MORE than 50 jobs have been created at a business park as a direct result of the Science Vale Enterprise Zone.

Ten firms have opened for business at a new, speculative scheme at Milton Park, near Didcot.

Park bosses are delighted with the success of the development which was built after the enterprise zone – which takes in Harwell and Milton Park – was set up.

Under the terms of the enterprise zone, firms receive relief on their business rates while the planning process for development can also be fast-tracked.

Park commercial director Andrew Barlow said: “In little over a year, we are pleased to see all the units are occupied and accommodating customers across a variety of industries from robotics to printing, into the Science Vale area.”

The 25,000 sq ft development consists of 12 units, ranging from 1,500 sq ft to 3,090 sq ft.

Business rates relief can mean occupiers can save up to £275,000 over five years.

Wayne Poar – from kitchen design company Dream Doors, one of the new tenants – said: “The location is perfect as we are very close to the A34, so we have great access to surrounding areas.”

The customers, located at 119 & 120 Olympic Avenue, are: 3D NC (Formula One engineering); Cyth, (robotics); REA Jet (coding and marking); Dream Doors (kitchen interiors); Tokamak Solutions (fusion sources for nuclear waste); Earth Save Products Limited (air source heat pumps); RealSound and Vision (audiovisual supply); Production Tools (high-quality pressings); Wessex Metal Stock (metal suppliers) and Northcourt Press (printing).
