I WAS delighted to read that the bike hire scheme in Headington is to be relaunched. (Boris bikes’ set to ride again with new operator, February 28).

So on my regular Monday coach commute I strained my eyes at Thornhill park and ride to try and find the bike stands which will be taken over from the previous operators.

Oxford Mail:

London Mayor Boris Johnson takes former Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger for a ride on one of his ‘Boris bikes’

Although I was aware of the bike hire scheme and was looking hard to try and identify the location for the bikes, I could see nothing.

Unless the new scheme is highly visible, regular users of Thornhill may not even realise it exists.

Could I plead that the bike stands be put where they are clearly visible for coach users and car drivers?

If that is not considered feasible then high profile advertising needs to be put on site.

Otherwise the same thing will happen again – a good idea will be ruined by lack of publicity.
