The fairy queen and the devil, alias Jenny Robson and Sue Corgill, had the audience at the village school spellbound in 1986. After enjoying the pupils’ acclaim, the mums made their debut before an adult evening audience. For several years, they had reversed the tradition that schoolchildren entertained adults.
The First Fruits Wholefood Co-operative in Honey Lane celebrated its first anniversary in 1987. The shop, a Christian co-op, specialised in a wide range of wholefoods and was planning to expand to meet increasing demand.
