Sir – The conversation that Dominic Utton refers to in his article (February 6) sounds very familiar.
While he and my dad “Bob” like to sit in silence on the train to London, avoiding any contact with fellow commuters, I must be one of the few regular customers who would welcome conversation on my journeys.
The silence and general despair on platform 1 every morning is horrible. If Dom (or any other sufferers) would like to spend a stimulating hour (or more if you factor in the delays) talking about the overpriced tickets, many inadequacies of First Great Western and constant delays that would be very welcome. Perhaps we could set up a new “chatting” carriage?
