THE parents of Lt Col Rupert Thorneloe are understandably proud that their son’s distinguished war record will now be seen by the thousands of visitors attending Blenheim Palace’s exhibition on the First World War.
But Mrs Thorneloe, head guide at the palace, has been quick to point out that although her son was the most high-ranking to die in recent years he was not the only one, or the most important.
Visitors will be able to reflect on the bravery of Lt Col Thorneloe and those who gave their lives in the Great War.
