THE Abingdon Lions Club raised £2,000 with their annual Christmas float for the Abingdon Bridge charity.

Frank Allen, John Prior and Ron Skinner presented the money to the charity last month.

The proceeds were raised in the group’s annual Christmas collections from housing estates around Abingdon with Father Christmas.

Chairman of the trustees from Abingdon Bridge Chris Bryan said: “This is a fantastic donation from the lions. It marks the start of a major fundraising initiative by the Abingdon Bridge in the community to celebrate our 21st birthday. “All donations support the most vulnerable young people in the area. Our aim is to help them to adopt healthier lifestyles and provide 1:1 counselling.”
