JUST to correct Roger Tucker’s latest batch of myths concerning the UK’s relationship with the EU.
The European arrest warrant does not allow the ‘European Police’ permission to come to the UK and arrest someone.
Instead, it requires a member state to arrest and transfer a criminal suspect or sentenced person to the issuing state so that the person can be put on trial or complete a detention period.
The European Parliament in Strasbourg
This is only for serious offences and not parking tickets and it means, of course, that British criminals can no longer reside in the Spanish Riviera and put two fingers up to British justice.
Creosote was banned because it’s a cariogenic, mothballs were banned because they contain naphthalene, proved to cause kernicterus and linked with brain damage in babies.
We should thank the EU for being more concerned about our health than apparently our own Government.
However, the good news for Mr Tucker is that carbolic soap like his granny used is still available from British suppliers in the UK, although I do suspect there’s not too much demand for it.
