The picture to the right is of the tiny hole/tunnel which runs under the Old Abingdon Road (road to Red Bridge) that the stream has to run through.

It runs parallel with Wytham Street at the bottom of the gardens of the houses on that side – little wonder there was serious flooding as it is impossible for all that water to get through, therefore backing up and flooding all those houses.

Just a small obstruction would make matters much worse and there is plenty of that.

If you look over the road where it comes out and flows on to meet the main stream, you will see it is clogged up with dead and broken trees, which in turn have trapped debris of all kinds. This is not rocket science! It would not take much to get this cleared. It looks like many years of neglected water management.

If the tiny tunnel which runs under the main road was made much bigger, or an additional one built, I am convinced it would get the water away much quicker and prevent the water from backing up, which is adding to the flooding from the main river.

You really have to see all the rubbish, fallen trees and the like which are in the stream, and stopping the water from getting away to believe it. It is disgraceful.
