THE absence of noise and anti-social behaviour in Witney town centre at night would not turn it into a ‘ghost town’ (Oxford Mail, January 3.

Lots of people go out in the evening to the cinema, concerts, drama groups, restaurants and bars.

When they go home, they are aware that local residents are already in bed and may have to get up early the next morning for work, school or college.

Many of them try not to be too noisy.

Unfortunately, the night clubs themselves have often blasted out such loud music that it carries way beyond their own premises and attracts some selfish people with delinquent behaviour.

If such people have to go to George Street in Oxford, where there has to be a heavy police presence and bouncers on all the doors, then the majority of Witney residents would be glad to see the back of them.
