I CAN’T praise the doctors at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Hospital enough after the appointments administration made inexcusable mistakes.

A year ago, I injured my shoulder and eventually got an appointment to be seen.

Four months ago, I developed carpel tunnel syndrome in my right hand – same side as the damaged shoulder.

My GP referred me to be assessed at the NOC and, on arrival, a long queue to book in took 35 minutes to reach the receptionist. Shortly after, I was called by a nurse who said I had to have an X-ray. My shoulder was X-rayed (it was already done three months previously) and I was told to return to the reception desk in the triage clinic.

Thankfully, the doctor saw me and treated the carpel tunnel even though he had only the details of my shoulder injury.

The receptionist was overheard saying that the system was in a mess and getting on to it was proving difficult – not surprising if admin couldn’t get the right screen notes for the appropriate appointment.

At least the doctor was clear and concise and didn't hesitate to give me the appropriate steroid injection and provide me with a wrist support splint.

Shame the admin can’t do their job as well.
