THE terrible situation of so many families caught up in the flooding can be partly attributed to this present Coalition Government's failure to take measures to install emergency funding to local authorities to help those affected by so much water.

Instead, the Government now blames local authorities for not doing more than they have done and, at the same time, cut funding for general expenditure.

The only winners from the flooding will be the insurance companies who today announced huge increases in insuring properties built on flood plains against environment advice.

These same insurance companies are quick enough to push up premiums, but not in a hurry to process insurance claims.

If Mr Cameron has any decency he should now promise that these people will get all the help they need.
