WITH regard to the new building works now in progress in Bicester, has anyone looked into the chances of Oxford and surroundings being flooded by these works going on?
Five hundred acres, 8,500 homes being built on Otmoor. These are wetlands being built on – they hold the water back, slow drainage down and reduce flash flooding in Oxford.
In rainstorms, the water drains into the River Ray, then into the Cherwell at Islip, then to Marston to the Thames and Kennington, etc.
If it goes through Weston on the Green, then through to Kidlington, the canal then the Thames, Port Meadow, Osney and Oxford, Kennington, Sandford and so on, then watch out, Oxford, it’s coming our way.
