The M40 northbound was closed for almost three hours on New Year’s Day after a collision.
A Porsche had spun round between junction 8a, at Oxford Services, and junction 9 at Wendlebury, shortly after 9pm.
A BMW was in collision with the Porsche and its driver was trapped in the car and had to be cut free by the fire service.
All three lanes of the M40 were closed.
The man was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. Thames Valley Police said his injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.
The road reopened just before midnight.
