I WAS amazed at the errors, deliberate or otherwise, in Adrian Taylor’s letter (Oxford Mail, December 24).

What current affairs news has he been listening to or reading? It is Mr Cameron’s Conservative Party that has been forcing the debate on restrictions to uncontrolled immigration that this country has been subject to over the last 12 years or so. It was the Labour Government that all but abandoned border controls and actively encouraged mass immigration. It has also been the Lib Dems who have attacked Home Secretary Theresa May’s suggestions for a restriction of “only” 75,000 immigrants per year.

I can only assume the crooked politicians he is referring to are Mr Clegg for his ludicrous suggestions that German lawyers and Finnish engineers will suddenly “up sticks” and leave their well paid jobs and that the NHS will collapse without more immigration, as well as Mr Cable’s equally fatuous remarks comparing Mrs May’s perfectly reasonable suggestions to Enoch Powell’s “Rivers of Blood” speech.

Whatever opinion you have on the issue of immigration, at least get the political facts right.
